# Activate a key

An activation key is a code that you buy at a point of sale. It gives you Premium for the duration that you bought. To ask where you can buy a key, select **Write to us on Telegram** on the [Pricing](https://medlibro.co/pricing) page.

> A key works one time. It goes to the account that activates it, so log in to the correct account first.

## Activate your key

1. Log in to your MedLibro account.
2. Open the [activation page](https://medlibro.co/activate).
3. Type your key under **Activation key**.
4. Select **Activate**.

The activation page has the title **Go Premium**. You can also open it from two other places. On the Pricing page, select **Activate it** under the plans. On your **Subscription** page, select **Use an activation key**.

You can type the key or paste it. MedLibro adds the dashes and the capital letters.

MedLibro then opens your dashboard, and it sends you an email. Your **Subscription** page shows your new end date.

## If the key does not work

If you see **The key must look like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX**, your key is not complete. Type all its characters.

If you see **The key provided isn't valid. Please check it and try again.**, compare each character with your key. A key that somebody already used shows the same message. If your key is new and it still does not work, [contact us](/en/help/contact-us).

## If you already have a plan

- If you have Premium, the key's period starts the day after your Premium ends. You lose no days.
- If you have a year plan, Premium starts at once. If your year plan lasts longer, it continues after Premium ends.

A key gives Premium, and never a year plan.
